Did you see Pinkerton's letter in the open forum today? It's on page A4 of the LDN. He read my statements in the paper and took them way out of context. He believes that because I feel the budget of the Sheriff's Department should be cut in some way, that I have a "personal agenda" against the department. I certainly do not and I feel that they do a great job. When Becky had to call them a few weekends ago, the officer who assisted her was very prompt and took care of the issue immediately. I left the following commetn for both Sheriff Hartrum and Jeff Fiers. I already know at least one person who's sent a response into the LDN...Hopefully he's not alone!
I just saw Jim Pinkerton's letter in the LDN Open Forum. I wanted to let you know that I DO support the Sheriff's Department. Contrary to what Jim stated, I do not have a "personal agenda" and am not "singling out" the department. I feel that the department does a VERY effective job and I fully support them. I just recently met an officer who assisted my daughter with a problem that she was having. His response to her call for assistance was very prompt. His work as a deputy is highly commendable.
My statement in the LDN was only that due to the current economic state, budget cuts need to be made. I feel that there could be some cuts done somewhere. The county could work WITH the deparment to develop an effective budgeting strategy. I feel that there could be cuts made, and we could still have a very effective department.
