I recieved confirmation from a Starbuck's employee that the store is CLOSING! No confirmed date but ...... there goes the best dark, strong cup of coffee in town. Anybody up emailing and/or calling Starbucks and seeing if we can stave off the closing?

Startbucks is closing some if their stores all over the country. A sign of the economic times everywhere. I don't drink coffee so I really don't have an opinion one way or other.
I love a good cup of coffee. My favorite is dunkin donuts ! I f we had a dunkin donut shop downtown next to wesco where the old bowling alley used to be. That would be fabulous :)
I second the vote for Dunkin donuts. Good food and coffee. I will miss having Starbucks around. Buying "local" is only beneficial to me if I like the product. Too many "local" businesses brew coffee that is too weak for my tastes. McDonald's isn't bad, though - as long as it's fresh (Don't look down at it until you try it)... and for the thrifty, it is inexpensive!
Dude,
any idiot knows that starbucks burns their coffee (coffee/grounds .... "coffee lingo for dummies")
I cant believe that you HONESTLY think that The Blu Moon has gross coffee, i drink their coffee nearly everyday! I have had coffee all over the world, and i know what a GOOD cup of coffee is ... and TRUST me - starbucks is the WORST. Take it from someone who ACTUALLY knows what their talking about.
I would suggest you try some more coffee, then come back to the forum when you have something substantial to discuss.
XOXOXO.
Jessie
I third the vote for Dunkin Donuts, they have the Best Coffee. Starbucks has horrible Coffee and agree they will not be missed.

But I have to ask, What the Heck where they thinking?, how much money did they spend on that building? Even at $4.50 for a cup of joe, thats alot of joe's to pay for that building and get out of the Red. Now the building will likely sit empty Sad.

I think someone should start a new Discussion:

Which Business will close next?

My vote goes to:

ColdStone
my vote is also for coldstone ... and, i've never had dunken doughnuts coffee ... now i feel like i'm missing out!!
Give me a break! Are you saying you are the only one that knows what good coffee is? I may not be an expert or had coffee all over the world, but I know what I like and what I don't like.
i'm not saying i'm an expert ... but when it comes to coffee ... people that REALLY APPRECIATE coffee will all tell you starbucks is just a fancy name. that's all you're buying when you spend $5.30 on a large latte. Not anything flavorful. if you have to dumb your coffee done by putting a TON of flavoring in it ... you know somethings wrong.
I just simply don't appreciate Bb's negative attitude.
p.s. ... this comment was for Bb ...
It's unfortunate that Starbuck's is closing. I wish the best to all businesses in Ludington. However, my local favorite is the Blu Moon as well. What a fun, eclectic mix of people...and the atmosphere is the most unique around! I think the flavor of the dark roast is exceptional but I am a fan of dark coffees. Also a favorite...the Almond Joy a hot coffee drink that tastes like desert. Did I mention their white chili?
I am disappointed that Starbuck's is closing but to be honest I didn't I didn't think it would last as long as it did.
I think that they should have considered putting in a Dunkin' Donuts instead of Starbuck's as they seem to do a better business in a vacation area and the smaller communities. I know I would appreciate one and my family would too when they come up from Illinois on vacation.
That, OR some fun locals could figure out how to make a mean donut and make Ludington's own version of a non-chain eatery. :) Too many chains, too many chains! (Everyone join in now)
