The naming of the Skating plaza..

Is it just me or is what was named what first really much ado about nothing? I have lived in Ludington 34 of 37 years. I had no idea that that block of James st was called "James St. Plaza". Secondly, I highly doubt that anyone is going to confuse "The Plaza" Restaurant and "The Plaza" Skatepark. I doubt that anyone under the age of 18 is going to get confused about which "Plaza" they are going to. While I think someone could have come up with a better name for the skatepark, I seriously doubt the restaurant is going to lose any business because of this... Am I wrong???

I am in total agreement with you! If there were 2 restaurants or 2 skate parks sharing a name, confusion could result. As it is, I doubt it will be a problem! If anything, I fear that the restaurant owner may be turning off business by making such a big deal about it.
I think it is a great idea on how to advertise the new Skate Plaza. Good for the other eateries in the area who are not nearly as whiney as Tom. He is creating the only confusion by what he is doing. I suppose anyone else named Tom around Ludington should look for a name change since Tom was already taken.
I completely agree!!! It is a great way to advertise for the skate plaza and I feel that Tom needs to get a life. The last thing that he needs is to turn off customers in this economy.
The restaurant will benefit! Go small businesses!
Wow, Mr. McKenna needs to grow up. He is acting very childish. The names are similar but not the same. I now know one place I would not want to go to eat in Ludington. he might actually get more business with his creative name change, hopefully all the proper paperwork was filled out for the business name change. Good luck Mr. McKenna but you behavior has lost one person who won't eat at your business. Also, I see he has the name cafe in his business name, better watch out for the Corner Cafe they are similar too. Guess if his business is SO special he should have had a more creative name or maybe actually go with it and get people into his business like others, good service, good food and a good price. Sounds like you won't get that, he is to busy complaining. Time to grow up sir.
Actually this should have been in the newspaper, shame on LDN for listening and publishing his whining.
Too bad you refuse to eat at "The Skate Plaza". I have had lunch there, a couple of times, and the food , and friendly service, is enough to keep me going back! A Skate Plaza, and a Plaza Cafe, fan, :)
I share the same exact thoughts-
The Plaza Cafe' or The Skate Plaza. I'm really confused on why this is even an issue. I'm very disappointed that The Skate Plaza and The Plaza Cafe' now have negative comments by an immature tantrum. That is professionalism. Thank you Tom!
it is too bad that he is complaining so much about it because he has really good food!!! at first I thought it was humorous but now all this negativity causes one to lose their appetite!!!!!!!!!!!! Let it go Tom.
I disagree with the name myself. I have been in Ludington for most of my life and worked on Ludington ave. for many years too, this has always been James St. Plaza. I think that what the city should have done is let our locals name the Skate Park!!! Why wouldn't it be named something to its location? G Park, Stearns Park, something of that nature. What they really need to do is put an ad in the paper and ask locals or visitors to pick names, then take the top 10 or so and make a vote!!! I thought the park was for the people, why didn't we have a say!

Beth
The kids in the area did have a say, in fact they helped design the sign and logo.
Hey Beth, What a great idea! Let the the community choose a name!
