I just wanted to give a huge pat on the back to all those involved in bringing this to our youth. It makes me smile every time I drive by and see all those kids having such a great time! And I've been pulled in three times just this weekend to sit and watch all the amazing athletic ability. I cant seem to walk past without stopping. What a GREAT place!!

I agree!! Kids need a place to skate and this gives them the perfect outlet. They are extremely talented!
Yes, what a great idea!! It is great to see the youth participating in the skate park trying out all of their stunts. It's always encouraging to see youth having fun with the skate park. Our community should be as fortunate to get a skate park going like this one.
I won 't be totally negative yet, because these kids have a chance to keep it this wonderful. But form my experience and seeing skate parks open and close numerous times, these same kids can ruin in for everyone too. Please stay safe and take care of this park, Do not abuse it and make sure if you want to skate do it here not on other peoples property, you have a place now.
Wow for not wanting to sound negative you sure did :0) Good Job Ludington in giving the Kids a place to go!
It was awesome driving by today...there were many kids there, (almost) too many to move around, but... I saw the kids sitting and waiting to take their turn to skate. It's a great thing, finally for the kids to have a place to hang out. Kids of all ages coming together and making the most of something they all truly deserved. Kudos to those involved in the creation of the skate park!
I think it's great ! I used to go to ludington every summer as a kid. it's in a great location/
I haven't been up here since my grandma passed in 01. plus, i's also good for my uncle gordy's skateshop.
Our family visits every summer and we were there just a couple of weeks before the skate park opened. Our 9 year-old is pushing hard for a return visit this summer just to check out the park. Yet another reason to run to Ludington every summer!
I moved to Ludington from downstate a couple years ago and am impressed with the decisions of this community. I see daily how my taxes are being used and I see how the community comes together at so many events. To bring the Skate Park to town is just another step in putting the citizens first. Good job Ludington, and to our skateboarders & rollerbladers.......are the Olympics in your future??
Hello - my family is planning on moving to Ludington next June - I have two boys (7 & 10). Are you glad that you moved to Ludington? Do you have kids in the school system? Thanks for any info that you can provide. TERESA
Yes, I enjoy Ludington especially my neighborhood. I enjoy my walks to town or riding the bike to Stearns Park. I have two grandchildren who love it here and prefer this town to their own of Traverse City! They love the parks, beaches, etc. Where are you moving from? With kids in school that will help you meet people, I haven't met to many yet. I think you will enjoy this area.
I am from a small town in Indiana but right now we live in Warren, MI - on the "not so nice" side of the state. I can't wait to move to Ludington next year. We have always camped and spent summers in the Ludington/Hart area and the kids totally love it - it was just a logical choice when deciding where to move. I hope that Ludington has the same small town feeling that I had growing up in a farming county of Indiana. From our visits and some of the discussions in the Ludington papers and on this forum I get the impression that it will be. I just really want my kids to be safe... and have fun growing up. Where we live now can never provide that - but I think that Ludington can... besides it is much prettier to look at Lake Michigan sunsets than cornfields in Indiana!
I don't live in Ludington now, but I do own an acre on Hamlin Lake. I just visited last week and hated to go back to Illinois. I get 'homesick' for Ludington all the time. You and your family will love it there. I have yet to run into a problem child any time I have visited - so the parents and the school system must be instilling good values into their youth. Your boys will also love the lakefront and the statepark. They can play outside all year round instead of hanging out in front of the TV!
