lets hear what you think about other states and countries trying to obtain water from our great lakes. Nestle company is already got their pipes in our underground. Laws are being put into effect by 8 surrounding states to gaurd against this. water is our precious resource and we are very fortunate to have so much of it here in Michigan. Do you drink bottle water? do you have well or city water. Is it safe to drink? Have you had it tested? www.great lakes.org for more information on same.
yes indeed ,I agree, water is precious. We did get more than our fair share of it this week. We are blessed to be surrounded by the great lakes. We need to make wise choices and conserve our natural resource that we sometimes take for granted.
If you were to go west or south you would see that we will be facing an uphill battle to savor our Great Lakes. Just to see the dry river beds in Lake Mead, the Colorado River a stream and low water levels elsewhere, our Great Lakes will be in danger. If other states or countries would wise up and stop watering golf courses in the deserts I'd have less problem with their desire for this water. My grandkids enjoy playing in Lake Michigan, it's sad to glimpse it's future.
I am also very concerned about what goes into our water. chemicals, fertilizers, and septic leakage. Some accidental pollution can only be ceaned up after the fact. However I wonder if we are doing enough to keep our rivers, lakes, and streams from daily minor pollution. leaky septic systems, fertilizing, insectisides, and just plain litter. I wonder how we can change?
we can start by testing our drinking water. the conservation district is doing that for free july and august. just stop by and get a collection container and instructions. Mason co garden club is giving a lecture today on the subject open to public at 1pm at the old methodist church behind the tiki .Together as a society we can do alot.
