Please go to www.ludingtondailynews.com and place your vote....Do you like the idea of a dog park.
There is a meeting on the 24th in City Hall to discuss this idea. The public is encouraged to attend, 7 pm -9 pm.
I voted yes and was surprised to see that 20% of people who voted were against a dog park. I mean...why would you be against a dog park? That seems cold to me.
Several people have expressed their feelings that the money raised would be better spent on helping people in the community (example: those losing houses) then "wasted" on a dog park...... ;) but there's a good share of us that think otherwise...
I don't deny that there are other issues in the area. There are problems everywhere. A dog park is something that I believe in. I am taking it on and would like others to help me getting a park up and going here.
When someone wants to do a can food drive to help people in need. I will be there. I can't fix the worlds problems. More people need to get out there and DO something instead of complain.

I was surprised to see the I don't have a dog question. You don't have to have a dog to support a dog park.
Why don't you think it can be managed? Do you have something against the people involved?
Do you know anything about the park? I am surprised that so many people are against it yet know absolutely nothing about it. Maybe you should come to the meeting on Tuesday to find out facts about the park before you pass judgement.
People need to do their part to keep it clean and safe. There will always be someone who messes it up for the rest of us.
I don't see myself as hostile. I just wanted to know why you had the thoughts you had.
Everyone has their reasons. I just wish that they would say what the reasons where so we could work through them.
Sorry
Ok, I was wondering what I said. I didn't think I was mean. I would hope that no one ever think that of me.
Please come to the meeting on Tuesday if you would like to know more about the park or have any input....good or bad:)
Have a good weekend!
I just have to say that there WERE other posts listed here and someone who had complaints about the park has since deleted them.
I am leaving my posts. I don't make comments for a reaction only to delete them later. I stick by what I say:)
Just thought I would let everyone know why it looks like I am defending the dog park to myself..............
I know YOU know! But so many people are going to read in the LDN about Ludington Talks and decide...hmmm....I want to check that out. They are going to try and follow this and it will not make any sense what so ever.
There were a few comments here and there that have since been deleted.
Community change has to start somewhere - who knows what kind of camaraderie this could give people? When something beautiful happens, more is yet to come. I promise.
I would love a dog park! What a great gathering place for people to come and enjoy playing. Hey, don't you people watch movies - that's where the guys and girls meet each other in the romantic comedies? :-) I also think it would be nice for folks who visit with their pets to have somewhere to run their dogs after a day on the water. Perhaps Ludington could even attract some big events in the dog world, similar to what happened with the horse community. Wouldn't it be fun to have a "best in show" type event. Or the hunting shows on TV have tons of hunting dogs who have proven that they are smarter than I am. I'd love to have some of those shows come to Ludington and see what a great place we live in. I do agree that the park will have to be maintained and folks will have to pick-up after their pets, but hey we're all adults. I have to admit when I first heard about the skate park, I had serious concerns about safety and bullying etc. But that seems to be going well and the kids seem to be enjoying it judging by the large groups skating at the first peek of sunshine.
I say we go for it. If it doesn't work and becomes a problem, we can always revisit it in the future and nix it if necessary. Let's "go to the dogs!"
